Our client is one of the world's largest steel producer with main steelmaking operations in UK and the Netherlands.
The Role:
The successful applicant will support the Commercial Manager in the sales, marketing and customer service involved in the sale of Steel Mounting structures for Photovoltaic farms and Commercial / Domestic roofing systems both in the UK and abroad.
The position offers real selling and negotiating experience and the opportunity to deal with customers on a daily basis and the building of sound customer relationships.
Responsibilities:
Pursuing sales targets in line with annual plan
Developing close working relationships with existing and potential customers
International travel on a regular basis
Managing accounts to ensure from point of enquiry to delivery of product and any required aftercare.
We are looking for you to have a good understanding of International Trading.
Ideally you will have a proven background already within the Solar Photovoltaic market in a sales capacity.

THE ROLE:
You will be required to forge close links with clients in one of three new specialist market sectors to deliver divisional turnover.

As well as the active sourcing of opportunities and leading the bids team, you will be expected to contribute to the devising of the marketing activity for the organisation.

Our client specialises in the fabrication, erection and protective treatment of high quality steelwork for landmark bridges, highway bridges, railway bridges, footbridges, sign gantries, monopiles, and other heavy structures. They are looking to recruit a senior sales engineer or sales engineer to secure orders for their UK Division.
THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES OF THE SALES ENGINEER POSITION
• Actively look for opportunities within our established markets and seek to develop opportunities within new
markets.
• Secure sufficient work to ensure the profitability and success of the business.
• Build long-term sustainable open and honest relationships with all clients.
• Understand the needs of the Client and tailor a strategy suited to their needs.
• Secure tender deals where possible.

The Senior Sales Engineer role encompasses all of the Sales Engineers role as well as the following:
• Mentoring and developing Trainee and Sales Engineers.
• Develop and define bid strategies.
• Support the Sales Manager in the management of the team.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
Ideally the candidate will possess a degree in Civil or Structural engineering although consideration will begiven to all applicants. All positions require applicants to have excellent IT and communication skills together
with a high standard of written English. .
EXPERIENCE:
• Candidates should have a technical knowledge of structural steel.
• Previous sales experience would be an advantage.

Job purpose:
My client is looking for a right hand person to drive the business forward. We are looking for someone with initiative and sales ability to work and motivate themselves to get the job done.
You will be expected to plan and carry out direct marketing and sales activities, to maintain and develop sales of stainless steel and nickel round and profiled wire products, to both UK and Export accounts, in accordance with agreed business plans.
Experience would be advantageous; however the most important thing is your sales ability.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
1. Maintain and develop existing and new customers in both the UK and Abroad through planned individual account support, and liaison with internal order-processing staff.
2. Respond to, and follow up sales enquiries by email, telephone, and personal visits.
3. Plan and carry out direct marketing activities to develop new business within current Market Areas and to develop new business opportunities through market research, competitor and market surveys.
4. Maintain and develop a computerised customer and prospect database.
5. Monitor and report on Sales activities and provide relevant management information.
6. Liaise and attend meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid business and organisational development.
Personal profile
• Background:
o The ideal candidate should have a metals based background, ideally with knowledge of stainless steels.
o But not essential
o Experience in the “Wire Industry” would be advantageous, but is not essential.
o Language skills would be an advantage but again are not essential.
• Personality: Self-driven, with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on providing a high quality service. A natural forward planner who can work off their own initiative. Mature, credible, and comfortable in dealing with a variety of people. Reliable, tolerant, and determined. A good communicator, keen for a new experience, responsibility and accountability. Able to work on own or as part of a team.
• Personal Situation: Must be mature and domestically secure. Able to work extended hours on occasions when required and able to work and travel abroad when required. Must have clean or near clean driving licence.
