On behalf of our client, we seek a Buyer to join a growing steelwork fabrication business, based near Enfield, London. An excellent salary /package is on offer to the successful candidate.
The company works on a wide range of steelwork projects that range from portal frames, mezzanine floors, beam and stick as well as Architectural steelwork, i.e. stairs, hand railing, gantries, walkways etc....
To purchase a wide variety of structural steelwork members.
Including plate, flat, and other associated construction materials, elements and fixings, such as bolts, paint etc....
To purchase all sizeable company consumables including fabrication shop accessories such as welding rods, work clothing, visors etc....
To liaise with all relevant company departments to ensure all materials are purchased in line with eh departmental needs, project program and within the budget.
Regular communication with stock yard to ensure stock availability and ongoing requirements are maximised to the most economic effect.
Meetings as required with estimators, project managers, and workshop staff etc.
Ideally, we seek an experienced existing Buyer with at least 2 years’ experience working as a Buyer within the steelwork or engineering or construction Industries.Experience working within a steelwork fabrication business in purchasing would be an advantage but not essential. Experienced buyers from the construction and engineering industries are welcome to apply.
The candidate will need to have a broad knowledge and understanding of other associated elements involved in the supply of steelwork and engineering fabrications and assemblies such as bolts, paint, cladding, plant hire etc.... through to workshop and general company consumables.
The ability to read engineering drawings, bills of material, material lists etc.... will be required.
Must have a keen and accurate eye for detail to ensure all materials required are covered, budget expectations are met, and the delivery times meet all the program requirement dates from the yard to the shop to site. Purchasing all materials in time to ensure the timely delivery of all materials is absolutely essential for the whole project life-cycle.
Good working experience of word, excel and general Microsoft office tools being essential for this role.
An excellent telephone manner and presentable appearance for this role is required as well as the ability to negotiate and drive a “hard bargain” to always strive to achieve the best possible purchase prices without compromising the quality or the project delivery requirements.
Any necessary training in production / company products and services will be given by the company.
Full time PAYE position.
