Our client is a highly successful manufacturer of light gauge steel framed structures, well established with multiple offices in the UK, supplying clients throughout the UK. They now seek a Structural Engineer to work in the West Midlands office.
Working within the existing Design team, the successful candidate will take the lead on the structural design elements of projects as required, in a client facing engineering role.
Undertaking concept designs and planning projects on a wide variety of buildings.
Responsibility for the production of structural engineering calculations for light gauge steel frames, associated hot rolled members and composite floor slabs.
Delivering excellent project work within agreed deadlines and budgets.
Liaise with internal departments as well as clients and associated project members.
Report to senior management all relevant design decisions to make sure that the objectives of the company and client are achieved.
Attend meetings with clients and suppliers alike as necessary.
Assisting and mentoring of graduate engineers.
Attend site visits as and when required
Candidate requirements :
Solid experience working as a Structural Engineer.
A thorough knowledge of current codes of practice.
Experience of light gauge steel design is preferred but not essential as full on the job training will be provided.
Broad range of engineering skills.
Ability to undertaking hand calculations, using spreadsheets but able to demonstrate ability to use 3D modelling software. Working knowledge of Trimble design software (Tekla Structural Designer) would be beneficial, but again, training in house can be given if required on the above as noted.
Bachelor's degree BEng / BSc or Masters degree MEng / MSc or similar educational qualifications. However, a proven track record of working on the job as a Structural Engineer is equally as important as educational achievements.
Full UK driving licence
