Steel Market Researcher required:

Our client is a highly successful and well respected market research company in the steelwork market and operating on a Worldwide basis. The company provide reports incorporating steel prices, forecasts, consumption figures, trading information and gather this data from steel market participants in over 40 countries Worldwide!

To support the continued success, development and growth of the business, they now require, to work from their South Yorkshire office,an additional:

Steel Market Researcher - (South Yorkshire office).

Main responsibilities:

To ensure the required coverage of each market and product within the company’s publications, developing new research contacts by telephone, as well as attending conferences, for existing and potentially new publications.

Build relationships with key contacts within the steel industry for the collection of monthly steel prices and market information. You will present your research findings in report format, as well as verbal briefings.

To use your knowledge, experience and research to support the team in producing its regular reports. As the team work to strict deadlines, it is essential that you can manage and plan your work effectively.

Must have excellent communication skills and be a team player. You will be comfortable working as part of a team, as well as working independently.

Respond to client requests for information on steel sector developments, orally, via email and through PowerPoint presentations where necessary.

Identifying new opportunities for both existing and new products.

Prepare for conferences by providing research and background information on companies attending.

To keep up to date with price and market related news for all regions.

For those candidates interested in writing, there is an opportunity to contribute to the writing and editing of the company publications, online commentaries and press releases.

The Candidate:

Working experience and solid knowledge of the steel industry.

Candidates are sought that have worked in the steel industry in roles such as sales,marketing, purchasing, estimating or other commercially related roles as well as anyone having already worked in a similar role as this vacancy of course are all welcome to apply.

Basically we seek a commercially aware steelwork professional who understands the steel industry,the sections and materials involved in it and can talk confidentially to a wide range of steel related contacts about the steel market in general with prices and forecasts and demands being some of the data required.

Excellent analytical and confident communication skills are required, with ability to initiate conversations with research contacts and customers alike.

You will be fluent in English. Any additional languages would be beneficial but absolutely not essential.

Ability to interpret market and price information, making sense of large sets of information.

Curiosity and tenacity to learn and collect steel price and market information is a vital characteristic.

Good working knowledge of MS Office suite.
