SCI Supports Steel Connexions Launch
19th November 2008
Whilst subject to fluctuations in the demand for construction, I am sure that over the long term there will continue to be a real skills shortage in our industry. This is a major concern. For over twenty years the objective of SCI has been to promote the effective use of steel in construction, and to do so by applying our technical expertise and disseminatory skills. For the steel construction sector to achieve its full potential it is essential to attract new talent, people who will be able to use what SCI produces to help them design and build first class structures.
I am therefore very pleased to announce that we have managed to secure favourable rates for SCI member companies who wish to subscribe to the new service being offered by SteelConnexions. Their stated ambition is to 'build careers in the steel industry'. I would encourage you to look at their website (steelconnexions.com - to be launched on the 20th November) and see what they have to say about career options, and their facilities for putting those in need of a new challenge in touch with those who need good people. I hope this venture will prove to be successful in bringing new people into the sector, in particular to work for our member companies.
